MiLAN Technology Introduces New Line of Ethernet Connectivity Solutions
MiLAN Ethernet Hubs and Switches Offer
High Performance at Affordable Prices
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2000--MiLAN Technology, a division of Digi International(R) (Nasdaq: DGII), announced today several new additions to its line of Ethernet hubs and switches designed to offer network managers high performance, flexible and affordable solutions for desktop and workgroup connectivity. In combination with MiLAN's robust, versatile UTP and fiber optic media converters and transceivers, these new offerings allow MiLAN to offer a comprehensive set of advanced networking solutions.
The new MiLAN family of Ethernet and Fast Ethernet hubs are designed to meet the needs of small offices and workgroups, offering full functionality at a highly competitive price. The MiLAN compact 4-and 8-port 10 Mbps UTP Ethernet unmanaged mini hubs (MIL-H1120 and MIL-H1130) bring the complete functionality of a large hub to low- and medium-density desktop and workgroup environments.
For higher densities, the MiLAN 4- and 8-port 10/100 Mbps UTP Fast Ethernet hubs (MIL-H3120 and MIL-H3130) increase the flexibility of a LAN through the seamless integration of 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet and legacy network equipment operating at 10 Mbps. A self-learning switch selectively filters and forwards packets between the 10 and 100 Mbps segments at full line speed, giving the user the functionality of two hubs in one.
The new MiLAN dual-speed unmanaged switches have been designed to provide network managers with a sensibly-priced performance alternative to traditional shared Ethernet technology. Available with 4, 8, 16 or 24 ports (MIL-S3120, MIL-S3130, MIL-S3160 and MIL-S3170), MiLAN 10/100 Mbps UTP switches offer an ideal solution for desktop or workgroup connectivity, regardless of traffic density. The feature-rich, easy- to-use MiLAN switches allow 200 Mbps of bandwidth to the end user with flow control to maximize network performance. Additionally, all ports on MiLAN switches auto-negotiate for speed, facilitating connectivity to a wide range of networks.
"This new MiLAN line of products embodies our commitment to enabling powerful connectivity solutions at aggressive prices," said Marshal Perlman, product marketing manager, MiLAN Technology. "Our goal is to provide businesses of all sizes the scalability and flexibility they need to maintain a high performance network as they continue to grow. These new hubs and switches complement our single-mode and multi-mode media conversion products, allowing network administrators to quickly and easily incorporate fiber-optic segments into an existing network."
All of the new hubs and switches are available now, refer to the chart below for pricing information.
