"Digi's WAN communication adapters are the industry standard for value added resellers, system integrators and their customers. In joining the ECTF, we look forward to leveraging our leadership in open systems-based communications to help foster the convergence of voice and data at the server level," said Gene Olson, chief technology officer, Digi International. "The emerging ECTF standards will encourage application vendors to create hardware-independent, cross-platform computer telephony solutions. Digi expects to play a vital role in enabling its resellers and system integrators to offer a broad range of solutions based on the ECTF computer telephony standards, such as S.100 and S.300."
"The ECTF looks forward to Digi's participation in the forum, said Ed Verney, ECTF chairman and president. "As a leading supplier of communication adapters and WAN technologies today, Digi's commitment to promoting product interoperability in the computer telephony market is welcomed by the ECTF."
Today's announcement anticipates Digi's upcoming launch of the CompactPCI DataFire(R) DSP T1/E1/PRI dense modem communications adapter, and the CompactPCI DataFire SYNC 2000 synchronous communications adapter.
The DataFire DSP adapter is based on state-of-the-art DSP technology, and offers up to two on-board T1/E1/PRI ports, providing up to 60 channels for 56kbps V.90 modem, Fax and ISDN communications. DataFire DSP adapters are used to build high-density remote access and fax server systems, as well as other applications. The product also supports the ECTF computer telephony bus standard H.110, to enable its integration in data, voice, video and other media processing systems. Operating system drivers are provided for Microsoft Windows NT, Novell NetWare, Linux and SCO UnixWare 7.
The DataFire SYNC 2000 adapter provides high-speed WAN connectivity for remote access, routing, virtual private networking and other applications. It supports both Frame Relay and X.25 under Microsoft Windows NT and SCO UnixWare. SNA connectivity is provided in combination with Microsoft's SNA Server, or IBM's eNetwork Communications Server. The DataFire SYNC 2000 product line with integrated CSU's / DSU's will be enhanced by H.100/H.110 enabled products in Q2/Q3 2000.
