The Digi International DataFire GO!PRO Laptop Solution Adds 56K/V.90, Cellular and Ethernet Support
Mobile-User 5-in-1 Solution Gives Global Road Warriors Access to High-Speed Analog, ISDN, Cellular and Fax Connectivity
MINNEAPOLIS, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International Inc. (Nasdaq: DGII), the leading provider of server-based remote access communications solutions, announced the release of the Digi(TM) DataFire G0!(R)PRO PC card for laptops and PCs, offering remote users unparalleled connectivity to all the world's major communications standards from most points on the globe. The new product, which replaces the Digi DataFire GO!, adds K56flex/V.90, cellular and Ethernet support.
The DataFire GO!PRO card allows remote users to send and receive data using either analog or ISDN lines; enabling access to both the Internet and the corporate network. The standard PCMCIA card has the full support of the cellular phone industry, with companies such as Motorola, Nokia, and Sony ensuring compatibility with their standards.
"The DataFire GO!PRO is an innovative solution for those road warriors whose jobs demand that they connect to the Internet or their corporate network from anywhere in the world, with a choice of dial-up and cellular pathways," said Brad Baldwin, director of remote access at International Data Corporation (IDC). "This fits well into Digi's long-time focus on remote access solutions for both domestic and international corporate customers."
The Digi DataFire GO!PRO 5-in-1 solution gives remote users high-speed access to all the primary communications services worldwide, including K56flex/V.90, ISDN, GSM and PCS cellular, and standard Ethernet connections. Unlike competing products, the DataFire GO!PRO card supports both the GSM standard for cellular connections internationally and the PCS standard for North America, making it a true global remote access solution.
"The new analog standards support and cellular capabilities of DataFire GO!PRO make it an ideal solution for the new breed of remote worker who is truly on the go," said Paul Martin, senior product manager, ISDN products, Digi International. "The DataFire GO!PRO gives users multiple high-speed communications capabilities, and adding cellular support means they can work virtually anywhere."
The Digi DataFire GO!PRO card is a PC and laptop solution designed for use with Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0 Plug and Play systems. It uses a PC Card Type II interface and is approved for use in North America, Europe and Asia. The S/T version, available in Europe in July, will have a U.S. list price of $395. The U version for the U.S. market will be available in October at a U.S. list price of approximately $414. GSM, PCS and Ethernet cable kits are available at an additional charge.
