Digi International and LANSource Technologies Provide Integrated Windows NT-Based Fax/Remote Access Server
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International Inc. (Nasdaq: DGII) and LANSource Technologies Inc. (Toronto) today announced a strategic partnership that enables customers to easily combine Digi adapters and concentrators with software from LANSource to create an integrated fax/remote access server on Windows NT.
The solution, which has been tested in both companies' interoperability labs, includes LANSource's WINport(R) and FAXport(R) software, as well as Digi's DataFire(R) and AccelePort(R) access concentrators and adapters. WINport and FAXport software provide complete fax, data and RAS communication solutions. Digi's DataFire and AccelePort products add digital and 56 Kbps (V.90) analog connectivity.
"The combination of LANSource and Digi products showcases the flexibility of open-server communications," said John Gaylord, director of product strategy at Digi International. "Unlike proprietary fax cards, using an open server with Digi products means customers get to use the software and hardware that best meets their needs. LANSource has developed an elegant suite of software products for NT-based fax, dial-out Internet access and remote access, and we think it's a great way for our customers to use communications resources more efficiently."
"Addressing the needs of our customers is what brought about this partnership," said Chris Kostecki, director of sales for LANSource. "Digi's products are high-end quality communications adapters which we can offer as a turnkey solution to existing and new customers seamlessly and simply."
Digi International is the market-leading provider of routing and remote access adapter cards and concentrators for standard PC operating systems, including Windows NT, Novell NetWare and SCO UnixWare. The company's DataFire access concentrators and adapters provide up to 60 simultaneous users per PCI card and supports V.90 56K analog, ISDN, T1 and E1 connections. North America versions start at $208 per port list for the DataFire RAS 48. The AccelePort RAS family provides V.90 56K analog access for as low as US$312 per port list (eight modems). Together, Digi's DataFire and AccelePort products meet a wide range of communications needs for small and medium organizations.
LANSource's FAXport is a LAN-fax product designed to maximize resources across local and wide area networks. FAXport satisfies the differing needs of the enterprise and the workgroup. The enterprise requires centralized control over usage, costs, and security, but the workgroup needs local administration, ease-of-use and high functionality. FAXport meets both sets of needs and offers versatility and cost savings associated with sharing lines and devices. It offers the proprietary "Fax To:" button inserted into Microsoft Exchange/Outlook or Lotus Notes clients so sending faxes is as easy as sending email.
The LANSource and Digi products are immediately available through hundreds of VARs and integrators worldwide.
